Chana Dahl is young chickpeas, split in half and polished. This Chana Dahl is Certified Organic and contains no artificial additives. These small golden coloured legumes have a sweet, slightly nutty flavour and aroma when cooked. Chana Dahl is delicious in hearty soups, smooth Indian curries and tasty salads.
How to Use:
To prepare Chana Dahl rinse thoroughly before adding to a large pot of cold water (1:5). Boil for 10 minutes, reduce heat and allow to simmer for a further 15 minutes.
Chana dahl should be softened but slightly firm to the bite. Drain to use. For a creamy texture, peas can be cooked a little longer. Alternatively, chana dahl can be rinsed then soaked in cold water for 2-4 hours, before adding directly to soups and cooking for about 35 minutes. Use chana dahl in a hearty soup, spicy curries or mouth-watering hot pots.
Cooled dahl is a delicious addition to fresh salads or home-made veggie burgers.
